Introduced in 1990, the Gibson Songwriter is a steel-string acoustic guitar designed to meet the needs of professional musicians and optimized for studio and live recording. It incorporates the fundamental characteristics of historic Gibson models and combines them with more modern features.
The GIBSON Modern Collection Songwriter Recording Artist EC Left-Handed (MCSSSCRAHFANL) is a Square Shoulder Dreadnought featuring a cutaway, a rosewood body, an ebony fingerboard, and a Baggs HiFi DNA preamp.

The Gibson Songwriter Recording Artist EC has an all-solid-wood construction, with a torrefied Sitka spruce solid top, rosewood back and sides, a mahogany neck, and an ebony fingerboard (25.5" scale, 20 frets).
This combination produces a sound that is full-bodied, warm, and responsive, with rich, well-defined bass, balanced mids, and generous highs.
The ebony fingerboard provides a noticeable and musical compression of the sound, a characteristic that may prove valuable in certain musical contexts.
. In addition to giving the wood an elegant patina, the roasting process improves the instrument’s stability, sustain, clarity, and resonance, while protecting it from temperature fluctuations, humidity, and mold.

The Songwriter Recording Artist EC is equipped with the exclusive Baggs HiFi DNA system.
The HiFi DNA system uses two sensors placed under the bridge instead of the usual piezo. They perform recordings of the vibrations of the strings on one hand and those of the soundboard on the other. The result is an even more natural and dynamic recording that faithfully reproduces the instrument’s original acoustic character.
Each Baggs HiFi DNA pickup has its own active preamp. The volume and tone controls are located on the inner edge of the soundhole.
