Guild Newark St. Kim Thayil Polara - vintage white
GUILD Newark St. Collection Kim Thayil Polara (Vintage White) solid body electric guitar is the signature of Soundgarden's legendary guitarist, the famous Grunge band established in 1984 alongside Chris Cornell and bassis Hiro Yamamoto. In 2010, Rolling Stone magazine named Thayil #100 on the list of the "100 greatest guitarists of all time".
Pioneer of the "Seattle Sound", Thayil built is musical identity on an original 1978 Guild S-100. Newark St. Collection Kim Thayil Polara is directly inspired by this iconic guitar.
The Kim Thayil Polara is clearly a vintage-style instrument, remembering a great classic amrerican made double horn model with Mahogany body, Mahogany set neck and indian Rosewood fretbooard (22 frets, 24.75" scale, Vintage Soft U profile).
Guild HB-1 AlNiCo II Magnets Humbuckers replicate the warm yet articulate timbre of 70’s S-100 Polaras. A perfect match for Kim’s heavy tones, the added clarity of the HB-1’s allow the guitar to cut through the mix. Also equipped with a phase switch, accurate to vintage spec, these features are essential to recreating the magic of Kim’s favorite S-100 Polara models.
Honoring the long-standing legacy of Soundgarden’s 1991 album, “Badmotorfinger” and their 2012 album, “King Animal,” these symbols are quintessentially grunge and pay tribute to Kim and his band mates.
