Intech studio Grid Series 3 - BU16 Mechanical

The Intech Studio Grid Series 3 – BU16 Mechanical is a compact, modular USB MIDI controller featuring 16 dynamic buttons arranged in a 4x4 matrix. Powered by Gateron Hall-effect switches, each button is velocity- and pressure-sensitive, offering expressive control ideal for triggering samples, launching clips, finger drumming, and live performances.

Hall-effect technology enables precise detection of key movement, offering capabilities far beyond a simple on/off switch. Consequently, the BU16 can be used to trigger commands or to create expressive interactions based on playing force or dynamics.

Each button features its own customizable RGB LED lighting. The stock keycaps include cutouts that ensure excellent LED visibility during use. Colors, brightness, and light animations can be individually customized via the Grid Editor software.

The keycaps are also interchangeable, making it easy to tailor the appearance, feel, or control layout to your specific workflow.

The 16 buttons support various operating modes, including momentary, two-state toggle, and multi-step sequencing. This allows the BU16 to function as a traditional MIDI controller, a performance pad, or even an HID macro pad for triggering keyboard shortcuts and software functions.

Button Modes

The 16 buttons can be configured in several modes:

Momentary: sends a value of 127 when pressed and 0 when released
Toggle: alternates between values ??127 and 0 with each press
Step: cycles through multiple preset values ??with each press; in a three-step configuration, values ??can, for example, progress in successive increments
