The SSL 18 is equipped with eight high-performance SSL mic preamps, with switchable mic/line configuration. Leveraging our renowned engineering expertise, they deliver ultra-low-noise recordings and a wide dynamic range, ensuring you capture every detail of the performance with stunning accuracy. Their advanced two-stage circuitry ensures ultra-low distortion while maintaining the natural character of the source. You can also put them in Legacy 4K mode to add true analog saturation and the iconic 4000 Series sound to vocals, drums and all types of sound sources. Located on the front of the unit, Inputs 1 and 2 also provide instrument/Hi-Z inputs for capturing DIY guitars and vintage synthesizers/drum machines.

10 Line Outputs:
The SSL 18 features ten balanced line-level outputs located on the rear of the unit. To ensure optimum signal integrity and maximize headroom, Line Outputs 1 and 2, as well as Outputs 3 and 4, can be configured between +9 and +24dBu. This ensures perfect compatibility with a wide range of studio monitors and vintage equipment with lower output levels. Outputs 3 through 10 operate at +24dBu, making them ideal for integrating professional outboard gear. For producers, all outputs are DC coupled and can send a control voltage to synthesizers and modular systems.
It has a dynamic range of 125 dB, operating levels of +24 dBu, and switchable main and sub speakers. The SSL 18 also features DC-coupled outputs.

Dual High-Performance Headphone Outputs:
Customize headphone mixes with two independent headphone outputs that can be configured for different types with “Standard,” “High Sensitivity,” and “High Impedance” settings. The SSL 18’s headphone outputs can also be repurposed as line-level outputs for added flexibility.

Legacy 4K Analog Behavior:
SSL 4000 Series (often referred to as “4K”) consoles are renowned for imparting a unique “mojo” to the sounds and instruments that pass through them. This “mojo” comes from the multiple stages of harmonic distortion in compressor VCAs, VCA faders, and other crucial components such as solid-state mixing amplifiers. Using modern components, SSL has developed a circuit that distills these two essential characteristics of 4K sound into a single design. Legacy 4K Analogue Enhancement injects a finely tuned, smooth-sounding harmonic distortion and a high-frequency EQ boost to “pull” the highs forward while remaining highly musical, giving your sound the 4K mojo and presence that artists and engineers have loved for decades.

Comprehensive Digital Inputs and Outputs:
With a wealth of digital audio connections, the SSL 18 is ready to expand its I/O capabilities at any time, with an additional 16 channels via ADAT and two more via S/PDIF. The SSL 18’s dedicated Word Clock output provides a solid clock for integrating external digital devices into your system.

Monitor Controller + Talkback with Mic Compressor:
The SSL 18 features a comprehensive monitor control section with built-in Talkback input. Line outputs 1 and 2, as well as outputs 3 and 4, provide alternate speaker switching with Alt, Talk and Cut accessible via the front panel monitor controls. You can also customize the monitor controls via SSL 360 to suit your workflow. Switch the Talkback input to LINE mode and reprocess the audio through the classic Listen Mic compressor, perfect for parallel compression on drums, vocals, etc.

Virtual mixer via SSL 360 app:
The SSL 18 offers complete management of all inputs and outputs, as well as detailed and scalable visualization in the 360 ??software. Create and manage the mix from your Control Room. Set up four additional monitor mixes for artists. In addition, a flexible mirror routing system allows you to route any Master input or output directly to an output, which is ideal for feeding personal monitoring systems, personal monitors and external effects. Create different templates for recording, mixing, and more, then save them as a profile in the SSL 18 mixer.
