Thorens TD 1601 Noyer
The Thorens TD 1601 Walnut is a belt driven turntable with a walnut finish.
The ultimate in sound quality in a timeless design
A manual belt-driven turntable inspired by the famous Thorens TD 160 from 1972. It differs from the Thorens 1600 with its electronic tone arm control, automatic standby function and balanced XLR output. With its suspension chassis, a technology characteristic of the Swiss brand, this model is designed to absorb unwanted vibrations and guarantee optimal playback quality for the full enjoyment of music on vinyl.
Minimising vibrations for perfect sound
Like the TD 160, the 1601 has a suspension chassis designed to minimise vibration and avoid sound distortion caused by mechanical interference. The chassis is mounted on three springs and covered with a wooden frame, giving the turntable the classic, elegant Thorens design.
Great features
The Thorens TD 1601 turntable has an aluminium platter with a thick rubber mat that ensures high inertia and effective vibration absorption, allowing for excellent record and platter coupling. It is equipped with a thick rubber belt drive, which connects the turntable motor to the sub-platter, and whose tension can be adjusted to eliminate fluctuations in platter rotation smoothness. The platter is rotated by an electronically controlled motor, which allows the playback speed to be changed by simply pressing one of the two buttons on the bottom left of the chassis to select between 33 and 45 rpm. The Thorens TD 1601 is also equipped with an auto-sleep function, which stops the platter rotation and automatically lifts the arm at the end of the record.
A high-precision tone arm for demanding users
The tone a
rm installed on this complaint is the famous Thorens TP 92 9" (232.8 mm), which is equipped with a high-precision ball bearing for better support and a decoupled counterweight for better stability. The tone arm tube is made of high quality cold forged aluminium and has been designed using a laser vibrometer to ensure no unwanted vibrations. The arm is ½" compatible and can be adjusted in height (VTA) by loosening the locknut and raising or lowering the arm. Anti-skating is provided by two ferrite magnets and can be adjusted with a set screw. The tone arm is electronically controlled, allowing it to be lowered or raised by simply pressing the button on the bottom right of the platter.
