No compromises were made when it came to recording the sounds of the instruments themselves. The DTX PRO’s sounds have been refined to naturally follow the drummer’s playing and allow for maximum expression. The acoustic drum sounds built into the DTX-PRO are all real sounds recorded in world-renowned recording studios. In addition to recording the direct sounds of the drums, the unique natural ambience of the studios where they were recorded was also sampled. Performances by Yamaha’s leading drummers were recorded and mixed by a team of sound engineers to produce the final audio files. The project’s sound director, a professional in electronic musical instrument development, used rigorous recording techniques to capture the detailed sound of each drum and cymbal, from the initial attack to the very end of the natural decay. The Kit Modifier featured on the DTX-PRO offers drummers unlimited possibilities for creativity. The KIT MODIFIER condenses Yamaha’s decades of expertise in sound creation into three buttons: AMBIENCE, COMPRESSION, and EFFECT.
Thanks to Yamaha’s high-quality R&D, the module offers a wide range of sound possibilities—from the natural realism of acoustic drum sounds to live performance sounds and high-quality effects. The AMBIENCE button controls the natural ambience and reverb of the drum sound. For acoustic drum sounds, the AMBIENCE MODIFIER knob controls the recorded natural ambience from 0 to 50%. When the setting exceeds 50%, high-quality digital reverb is also added to the sound. The COMP and EFFECT knobs utilize the simplified “1-knob” control technology found in Yamaha’s Professional Audio products. The COMP knob adds compression to the entire drum kit sound, ranging from subtle to pronounced, while the EFFECT knob controls the mix of the internal effects processors. The effects are fully adjustable and offer a wide range of available options. A high-level playing experience: The DTX6 series is equipped with TCS (Textured Cellular Silicone) pads, offering unmatched levels of realism, feel, and quietness. Yamaha’s original TCS pad surface uses a silicone foam material containing thousands of air bubbles. With the perfect balance of firmness and rebound that allows players to strike hard, TCS offers a realistic and natural feel that makes you want to play, and since the surface never loses its firmness, every strike is perfect. In addition, a unique suspended structure—with no direct contact between the playing surface and the mounts—prevents the transmission of vibrations elsewhere, while enhancing the pads’ sensitivity. The air bubbles in the TCS pad also act as a cushion to soften the sound of the drumsticks. The training features found in previous DTX models are also included in the DTX-PRO. In addition to the sophisticated programmable metronome, the module offers a full-featured recording function, 10 training functions that are ideal for drummers of all skill levels, and 37 practice songs that let you learn different styles. Both beginners and professionals will find the DTX-PRO’s training features a useful aid for daily practice. The DTX-PRO module’s high-performance sound engine leverages the technologies Yamaha has developed over decades of manufacturing musical instruments of all kinds. Each channel of the DTX-PRO module features a three-band equalizer, per-channel compression (in addition to the kit’s overall compression), transient control (where the attack and release of each sound are individually adjustable), and insert effects, to help drummers recreate their favorite drum sounds. In addition, Yamaha’s drum pads feature position-detection technologies that respond precisely to the drummer’s strikes, offering the ultimate in expressiveness that is reflected in the sound. Yamaha recognizes that it is incredibly important for drummers to hear themselves clearly, which is why the DTX-PRO module is equipped with a high-precision, low-distortion, low-noise, high-power headphone amplifier. This circuit delivers high-fidelity sound directly to the player; it was developed exclusively for electronic drums and immerses the player in realistic drum sounds. The DTX-PRO module comes with a download code for the latest version of “Cubase AI,” the most widely used music production software. By connecting the DTX-PRO to your computer via a USB cable, all recording, editing, and mixing tasks involved in modern music production can be managed using a single software application.
