Dynaudio LYD-48: The Next Generation Three-Way Monitor

Born from the DNA of the Dynaudio PRO LYD series, the LYD-48 marks a major evolution with a three-way architecture designed to achieve exceptional precision. It combines a next-generation soft dome tweeter with MSP midrange and bass drivers, developed and handcrafted by Dynaudio. This design ensures perfectly controlled reproduction at both near and medium listening distances.

Each driver has its own Class D amplification and DSP-controlled filtering, guaranteeing optimal coherence across the entire spectrum. The LYD-48 stands out for its faithful and stable reproduction at all listening levels, combining power, control, and musicality for precise and inspiring monitoring, even at high volumes.

Tri-amplification and advanced DSP control

The LYD-48 features dedicated tri-amplification (50W for the tweeters, 50W for the midrange, and 80W for the woofer), driven by high-efficiency Class D amplifiers coupled with 96kHz/24-bit digital processing. The integrated DSP allows adjustment of the bass extension over a range of ±10Hz, while the Position and Sound Balance controls ensure optimal adaptation to the acoustics and placement of the monitor, regardless of the working environment.

Handcrafted Dynaudio drivers

The lightweight silk dome tweeter incorporates an aluminum voice coil, designed to deliver detailed, natural, and non-aggressive highs. The use of copper-plated aluminum reduces moving mass while improving heat dissipation, thus limiting distortion caused by overheating. This design prevents unwanted high-frequency resonances and allows for extended listening sessions without ear fatigue.

The 4" midrange and 8" woofers are made of MSP (magnesium silicate polymer), a material offering an ideal balance of rigidity, lightness, and damping. Combined with large-diameter aluminum voice coils and a die-cast aluminum basket, they ensure excellent thermal behavior, low distortion, and extremely fast transient response. The flat cone design also improves off-axis response, ensuring a stable and accurate soundstage throughout the listening area.
