Fender Custom Shop Poblano 1962 Stratocaster #CZ584215 - journeyman relic fiesta red

This FENDER Custom Shop Poblano 1962 Stratocaster Journeyman Relic #CZ584215 (9236091465) is a reinterpretation of the 1962 Strat, a pre-CBS model highly prized by collectors. This vintage model is notably characterized by the widespread use of a rosewood fingerboard (slab board or round-lam starting in the second half of the year), a more comfortable neck profile, and a 3-ply pickguard.
Sold with a Fender Custom Shop hardshell case, strap, and certificate of authenticity.

Solid body electric guitar, “sort for light” alder body, bolt-on rift-sawn maple neck, “sort for dark” round-lam rosewood fingerboard (60s Oval C profile, narrow-tall frets, modern 9.5" radius), Custom Shop hand-wound Poblano pickups.

Thanks to individual winding, each pickup in the Ancho Poblano set has been optimized for its position, offering a wide range of tones from velvety vintage to fiery and crisp.
The neck and middle pickups are equipped with AlNiCo 3 magnets, and the bridge pickup features AlNiCo 5 magnets.

Ideally, one would be the proud owner of an original model from the ’50s, ’60s, or ’70s, but the prices of vintage instruments are so high that they’re out of reach for most people. The Custom Shop Time Machine series bridges the gap between vintage instruments and current production models.

Regarding the Relic finish: dealers attending NAMM 1995 were completely blown away by the level of realism in the first two Relic models that Fender presented to them that year. Although they were connoisseurs of vintage instruments, they mistook them for authentic original Fenders (they were a ’51 Nocaster and a ’56 Mary Kaye Stratocaster).
The accelerated aging process is now fully mastered and accounts for the bulk of Custom Shop sales.
