Developped around a 1956 Stratocaster "Base Model", FENDER Custom Shop Tomatillo Special Stratocaster Journeyman Relic #CZ571194 (9236080858)) solid body electric guitar sounds sweeter than its spicy cousin, but still packs authentic Fender tonal flavor.
The Tomatillo Strat Relic is hiding a few special ingredients inside : the duo of Hand-wound Tomatillo neck and middle single-coil Stratocaster pickups are crafted using alnico 2 magnets, reproducing what aged, original-era alnico 5 magnets might sound like today.
Bridge pickup is an Hand-wound Poblano single-coil with alnico 5 magnets.
The pickup set includes a RWRP middle pickup to reduce hum, and are tied together with Strat ½-Blender wiring, which lets you blend the neck pickup in to taste when in position one—bridge pickup-only—unlocking sweeter, more flavorful tone.
The two-piece body is crafted from alder that was selected for weight and grain. Crafted from quarter-sawn Maple, the neck sports a 11/56 Off Center V-shaped profile that’s comfortable for almost any playing style while the quarter-sawn Maple fingerboard sports a compound 7.25/9.5" radius and natrrow-tall frets that will feel familiar to contemporary players.
