Gibson 1958 P.A.F. Reissue Set - Double Vintage Black, Nickel Cover

According to the American company, the GIBSON Historic Collection 1957 P.A.F. Reissue Set, Double Vintage Black, Nickel Cover (PU58RIDVBNC2-SET) is the most faithful reproduction to date of the legendary “Patent Applied For” pickups from the 1950s (these are, in fact, the same pickups as those in the Collector’s Edition Humbucker Pickup Set, which was offered in a limited edition with a Lifton hardshell case a few months ago).
The P.A.F. is considered the Holy Grail by most guitarists. The 1958 version features Alnico 4 magnets. It offers a smoother attack than the 1957 model, while remaining highly dynamic and responsive. The 1958 model can be considered the most balanced and versatile P.A.F., with a superb balance between warmth and clarity.

The original P.A.F. pickups were equipped with Alnico II, Alnico III, Alnico IV, or Alnico V magnets. The artisans at Murphy Lab analyzed various vintage examples and Gibson’s archives to develop this magnificent replica, which was ultimately crafted using Alnico IV magnets.
Their design provides a balanced response between bass and treble, with smooth, velvety, and consistent midrange.
