Gibson 1959 P.A.F. Reissue Set - Double Vintage White, Nickel Cover

According to the American company, the GIBSON Historic Collection 1959 P.A.F. Reissue Set, Double Vintage White, Nickel Cover (PU59RIDVWNC2-SET) is the most faithful reproduction to date of the legendary “Patent Applied For” pickups from the 1950s (these are, in fact, the same ones as those in the Collector’s Edition 1959 Humbucker Series 3 Pickup Set, which was offered in a limited edition with a Lifton hardshell case a few months ago).

The original P.A.F.s were equipped with Alnico II, Alnico III, Alnico IV, or Alnico 5 magnets. The artisans at Murphy Lab analyzed various vintage examples and Gibson archives to develop this magnificent replica, which was ultimately crafted using Alnico III magnets.
Their design gives them a fairly smooth low-end response, pronounced and musical mids, and soft, airy highs. They have a supple attack but are nonetheless very responsive to the guitarist’s touch.
