The RG565R’s construction features a basswood body, a bolt-on neck made of five pieces of maple and walnut, and a rosewood fingerboard (24 frets, jumbo frets, 25.5" scale). This design produces a rich and dynamic acoustic foundation, with thick, punchy lows, smooth mids, and clear highs.
Available, affordable, lightweight, easy to work with, and tonally appealing, basswood gained popularity in the 1980s, particularly among the most prominent shredders. Similar to alder, though with more tempered mids and highs and a balanced frequency response, it is ultimately quite neutral. As a result, it lets the pickups take center stage.

The Ibanez pickup configuration combines a humbucking pickup (AlNiCo magnets) and a stack pickup (ceramic magnets), allowing you to transition from generous clean tones to subtle crunch, all the way to aggressive, crisp, and responsive overdrive.
