ABOUT THE PRODUCT

The SM57 is a microphone offered by the SHURE brand.

The Shure SM57 is a highly versatile cardioid dynamic microphone. It is primarily used for capturing instruments such as brass, wind, amps, strings, and drums, for example. It is used worldwide for both stage and studio situations. It comes with its carrying pouch, Velcro cable tie, and multi-thread adapter. At this price point, you'll hardly find anything better!

SHURE, designer of legendary microphones
Alongside the SM58, the SM57 forms arguably the most well-known duo of dynamic microphones worldwide. Shure has indeed succeeded in designing remarkably efficient professional dynamic microphones. The mere mention of their name recalls their immense reputation in the professional music industry. The legendary microphones in the SM range feature rugged electronic circuits that provide clear and smooth sound. They have been the benchmark for stage microphones for decades.

In place since 1965
The Shure SM57 microphone first gained its reputation not on musical performance stages, but during presidential speeches in the United States, since 1965. Indeed, there were two SM57s, equipped with windscreens, on the lecterns of various American presidents. Its cardioid pattern offers clear and precise voice pickup in all circumstances.

"The" versatile microphone par excellence
If Shure's SM57 is now a huge classic on stage and in studios, it's primarily because of its versatility. In the studio, it is ideally used for capturing all kinds of instruments, whether acoustic or from amplifiers. On stage, it is used for capturing spoken or sung vocals. Motörhead's lead singer, Lemmy Kilmister, used it all the time.

Tough microphone, able to handle pressure
The SM57 benefits, as often is the case with Shure microphones, from a sturdy construction capable of withstanding the most difficult situations on stage. The SM57 is known for withstanding significant shocks, such as drumstick hits when the drummer accidentally strikes the microphone. You can be sure that your SM57 will accompany you for many years, through many tours. The SM57 is also capable of capturing high-volume sound sources; it was indeed designed for such situations.

Tailored for instruments and vocals
When examining the frequency response curve of the SM57 more closely, it's evident that it's not linear. Below 200 Hz, low frequencies are attenuated to eliminate buzzing noise. There are peaks at 2 kHz and 6 kHz to emphasize signal transparency and clarity, and dips at 7 kHz and 8 kHz to reduce the "harshness" of the audio signal.
