Golden age PRE 573 MKIII
The Golden Age Project PRE-573 MKIII is an API 500-format preamp that captures the sonic essence of the renowned PRE-73 while adding expanded features. Inspired by the legendary 1073 preamp circuit, it has been redesigned to fit perfectly into an API rack chassis. It offers a wide gain range from -10 to +80 dB, with a main gain adjustment of 20 to 70 dB via a rotary switch, and an additional boost of +5 or +10 dB accessible via a dedicated switch.
This versatile preamp accepts both mic and line signals. In line mode, the gain is attenuated by approximately 30 dB, and the input impedance increases to 10 kohms, ideal for adapting to a wide variety of sources. For microphones, the input impedance is switchable between 1200 and 300 ohms, allowing for precise adaptation to the character of each mic.
The PRE-573 MKIII also features the classic features expected of a professional preamp: 48V phantom power, phase inverter, and a two-stage high-pass filter for better control of the low end.
Another major feature: an active high-impedance (1.5 Mohm) instrument input (DI), inherited from the PRE-73 DLX. The DI signal is routed through the input transformer, adding that touch of analog warmth typical of transformer-based circuits.
