Sonicware LIVEN Texture Lab
Granular synthesizer and FX processor
The Sonicware LIVEN Texture Lab is a granular processor with a synthesizer and effects modes. Granular sound generation primarily uses common sampling techniques, but is capable of breaking down, resynthesizing, and retransforming recorded audio material into smaller audio particles. In synthesizer mode, you have access to one of 32 samples, each lasting up to 6 seconds at a sample rate of 16-bit/32kHz in mono. With the internal resampling function, you can record new samples resulting from changing synthesizer parameters. Additionally, Synthesizer mode can be played with four polyphonic, mono, or Legato voices; the number of grains that can be manipulated depends on the Voice mode. In Effect mode, the Texture Lab becomes an extraordinary sound processing tool, which processes the stereo signal of the audio channel in real time using the possibilities of granular synthesis. Whichever mode is selected, there is an attack/release envelope to modulate the volume and a multi-mode digital filter with Low Pass, Bandpass and Highpass modes. At the end of the signal path is the surprisingly good reverb effect with six reverb variations, including shimmer reverb. The LIVEN Texture Lab presents itself as a creative tool for experimental sound collages of an ambient nature. The built-in speaker and alternative battery operation (6x AA) are ideal for those who want to make music anywhere. For connection with other equipment, there are MIDI inputs and outputs as well as analog inputs and outputs for synchronizing the LIVEN Texture Lab with Korg Volca or Teenage Pocket Operators.
Sequencer and arpeggiator
The single-track sequencer is programmable live or step-by-step in the TR grid and has a storage capacity of 128 patterns, each of which can have up to 128 steps. Saving parameter locks adds life and variety to designs. The synthesized sounds can be played chromatically via the 27 mini-keys, which represents a considerable musical gain. The shuffle (swing) parameter adds more groove and funk to sequences. Various live effects in the sequencer provide variations of the current pattern at the touch of a button, without having to reprogram anything. As an option to the sequencer, an arpeggiator with different playback patterns can be included in live playing at any time.
