Ssl Puredrive Octo
The Pure Drive Octo preamps are a true testament to SSL's commitment to cutting-edge analog circuit design in these professional products. No electromechanical components likely to be faulty (potentiometers, switches, relays or mechanisms) are used in the design of the audio signal circuit of these two preamps, in order to increase longevity and offer flawless consistency between all canals. The use of digitally controlled analog circuits, controlled by notched potentiometers and electronic switches, simplifies recalls and improves the precision of settings.
Three distinct colorings for all your needs.
Originating from the popular SSL ORIGIN consoles, PureDrive™ mic preamps have become an essential tool in some of the most prestigious studios and recording facilities due to their flexibility and superb sonic signature.
Continuing the legacy of these monuments of sound, the Pure Drive Octo offers 8 PureDrive preamps, with a warm, harmonic-rich and characteristically saturated sound, which varies depending on the gain. These preamps have 4 different impedance levels, allowing engineers to explore new horizons or stick as closely as possible to the impedance of the microphone used. Each preamp, which includes independent +48V phantom power, polarity reversal and a high-pass filter, is independently switchable into three distinct modes: Clean, Classic Drive and Asymmetric Drive.
Clean mode puts at your disposal the famous ultra-low noise linear SSL preamplifier, universally recognized for its ability to faithfully capture the sound of the source, with all the clarity and detail it deserves.
Classic Drive mode is a balanced mode that mainly generates odd harmonics, which can be found on the ORIGIN console.
Asymmetric Drive mode offers a new coloring option, designed specifically for Pure Drive preamps. This mode accentuates even harmonics and provides transients with more consistent thickness and coloration.
Professional connectivity.
The advanced connectivity of the Pure Drive Quad opens up new possibilities for audio engineers when it comes to recording. Its comprehensive selection of analog and digital I/O includes mic preamps with exceptional performance and flexibility, whether recording a band in a famous recording studio or adding warmth to stems in a production setup. With its integrated USB interface, the Pure Drive is also perfect for project studios and on-site sessions where quality cannot be compromised.
The Pure Drive Octo features eight rear-panel XLR/jack combo inputs, four front-panel Hi-Z/DI instrument inputs with automatic signal detection, and three D-Sub connectors for line inputs, as well as insert shipments and returns. Insert returns and analog-to-digital conversion inputs operate at up to +24 dBu at line level, for direct interconnection with other professional equipment.
Designed to offer sound engineers the possibility of working both independently and with a DAW, the Pure Drive Octo provides you with 8 audio channels at 32 bit/192 kHz via the USB interface, associated with 8 AES outputs /EBU and two ADAT outputs of 8 channels each at 24 bit/48 kHz, offering up to 16 ADAT channels (or 8 channels in SMUX 24 bit/192 kHz. 1 WordClock I/O completes the interface.
