Gibson 1960 P.A.F. Reissue Set - Double Vintage Black, Nickel Cover

According to the American company, the GIBSON Historic Collection 1960 P.A.F. Reissue Set, Double Vintage Black, Nickel Cover (PU60RIDVBNC2-SET) is the most faithful reproduction to date of the legendary “Patent Applied For” pickups from the 1950s (they are, in fact, the same as those in the Collector’s Edition Humbucker Pickup Set, which was offered in a limited edition with a Lifton hardshell case a few months ago).
The P.A.F. is considered the Holy Grail by most guitarists. The 1960 version features Alnico 2 magnets. It has the smoothest attack of the four P.A.F. Reissue Set options, with natural and subtle compression, absolutely perfect for blues-related musical styles.

The original P.A.F.s were equipped with Alnico II, Alnico III, Alnico IV, or Alnico V magnets. The artisans at Murphy Lab analyzed various vintage examples and Gibson archives to develop this magnificent replica, which was ultimately crafted using Alnico II magnets.
Their design gives them a round, warm bass response, slightly muted highs, and pronounced mids that are never harsh.
