Introduced in 1953 and regularly modified in the years that followed, the Gibson Les Paul Custom was significantly improved in 1957 with the introduction of the legendary P.A.F. humbucking pickups designed by Seth Lover.
The following year marked the introduction of the legendary trilogy of original Les Paul Standard “Burst” models from 1958, 1959, and 1960. It was replaced by the SG design in 1961.
It wasn’t until 1968 that the Les Paul reappeared in its original body style, notably the Les Paul Custom.

Since 2014, Gibson has been using a glue known as “Hot Hide Glue.” It has the same characteristics as the adhesives used in the 1950s. Derived from animal proteins, it has the advantage of simplifying maintenance and any necessary repairs.
