The MARKBASS MB PB (MBB148066C) is a superbly crafted consumer-market version of the very first solid-body electric bass designed by Léo F. in the 1950s.
Manufactured in Asia, it is inspected at the company’s Italian workshops before being shipped to retailers.
Easy to play with a compact neck profile, it is ideal for beginners but may also appeal to more experienced musicians looking for a high-quality, traditional backup instrument.

The MB PB’s construction features a poplar body, a bolt-on maple neck, and a maple fingerboard (set with 20 frets). This design produces a clear and dynamic acoustic foundation—dense and responsive—with precise, punchy bass, balanced mids, and crystalline highs.
The body is made of poplar, a wood species considered an alternative to alder. Widely available and affordable, poplar is therefore often used to craft entry-level and mid-range instruments.
