The year 1960 marks the final chapter of the original Les Paul Standard "Burst" trilogy—the models produced in 1958, 1959, and 1960. It was replaced by the SG design in 1961. It wasn’t until 1968 that the Les Paul reappeared in its original form. With only 635 units produced, the Les Paul Standard is one of the most sought-after electric guitars on the vintage market.
It is primarily the “Slim Taper” neck profile that distinguishes the 1960 model from earlier vintages. Thinner and easier to grip, the “60’s neck” has become the benchmark for modern Les Pauls.

The GIBSON Custom Shop 1960 Les Paul Standard Reissue VOS Tangerine Burst (LPR60VOTGBNH1) is a stunning replica of this iconic solid body electric guitar—a must-have for enthusiasts of authentic vintage tones and feel.

The construction is precision-engineered, with dimensions laser-scanned from vintage models, and components selected with uncompromising care: a set neck and body (using a “Long Neck Tenon” joint, "hot hide glue*") made of solid mahogany, a solid rosewood fingerboard, hand-wound Alnico III Custom Buckers pickups (faithful replicas of the legendary P.A.F.s), and paper-in-oil capacitors.
Since 2014, Gibson has been using “Hot Hide Glue.” It has the same characteristics as the adhesives used in the 1950s. Derived from animal proteins, it offers the advantage of simplifying maintenance and any necessary repairs.
