ABOUT THE PRODUCT

The year 1959 is undoubtedly the most legendary vintage in the original Les Paul Standard "Burst" trilogy—the models produced in 1958, 1959, and 1960. It was replaced by the SG design in 1961. It wasn’t until 1968 that the Les Paul reappeared in its original body shape.
Crafted by the artisans at Murphy Lab and inspired by the instruments in the Made To Measure line, this GIBSON Custom Shop Limited Edition LE 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue With Birdseye Maple Top Ltd (LPR5926LE23259) is a splendid reinterpretation of this iconic solid body electric guitar—a must-have for enthusiasts of authentic vintage tones and feel. It stands out visually with its stunning birdseye maple top and its uncovered bridge pickup, giving it a unique look!

The construction is precision-engineered, with dimensions laser-scanned from vintage models, and components selected with uncompromising care: a set neck and body (using a “Long Neck Tenon” joint, using “hot hide glue*”) made of solid mahogany, a solid rosewood fingerboard, and hand-wound Custom Buckers Alnico IV pickups calibrated to reproduce in detail the tone of the P.A.F.s from that era.
If you’re looking for a perfectly authentic vintage feel, you’ll undoubtedly be won over.
Since 2014, Gibson has been using “Hot Hide Glue.” It has the same characteristics as the adhesives used in the 1950s. Derived from animal proteins, it has the advantage of simplifying maintenance and any necessary repairs.

For 25 years, Tom Murphy has honed his craft to reproduce the look and character of vintage guitars. Building on this expertise, Gibson collaborated with the master luthier to develop a new finish formula that perfectly mimics the typical imperfections of 1950s and 1960s nitrocellulose lacquer, and to refine specific manufacturing techniques.
Every craftsman working at the Murphy Lab has been personally trained by Tom Murphy to become an expert in the aging process.
Sold with a Custom Shop hardshell case and certificate of authenticity.
